After rebuilding the Configuration Manager server I recently started receiving these errors in the SMS_WSUS_SYNC_MANAGER component.

SMS WSUS Synchronization failed.
Message: WSUS server not configured.
The operating system reported error 2147500037: Unspecified error
Here is the event log for the component. You can see the error was happening continuously.
To resolve this issue I had to adjust the security settings in the Software Update component. It appears that when it was originally configured the “Software Update Point Connection Account” was an account that was set to expire. To remedy this situation I simply changed it to be the non expiring Configuration Manager account I created during install.
To resolve this issue navigate to the “Software Update Point Component” and either right click and select properties or double click the item.
This will load the “Software Update Point Component Properties”. On the general tab select “Set” under the Software Update Point Connection account as shown below.
This brings up the user account properties where I set it to be a non-expiring account.
After this was completed, I forced a synchronization to the WSUS server. To do this under Computer Management in the main console expand Software Updates, then right click “Updates Repository” and select “Run Synchronization”.
After the Synchronization was initiated I was able to see the successful result by opening the status messages for the SMS_WSUS_SYNC_MANAGER under component status, which is located under System Status in the main console.
